Makeup Tips For Gray Eyes

Use a shadow that picks up lighter flecks in eye. For example, on green/gray eyes put a light golden shade on center of lids. Similar flecks are visible, spotlighted and brightened. Eyes will appear larger when brows are thinner, tidy, and brushed up. Curl eyelashes up with professional lash curler. Use a lighter shade of eye shadow in the center of the lid and a darker shade on the outer edge.

Creating a Crease

Some girls still prefer to create a crease for a different eye look. Where the crease would be, they apply a gray or brown shadow a few shades darker than their skin. Following traditional makeup tips, they then apply the lighter lid color and a highlight under the brow. For extra definition, an even darker gray or brown could be added to the outer v and swept down to extend below the lower lashes.

On mature skin and puffy eyelids, avoid using iridescent, frosted, light colors and white eyeshadows and opt for soft matte colors instead.

Only use cream eyeshadows that do not cause creasing upon application and should be coordinated with powder shadows that are to be used on top of them. They should be applied using fingertips.

Use slate, blue, grey and plum eye shadows for brown eyes, pink, salmon, mauve and brownish pink for green eyes and brown, camel and taupe shades for blue eyes.

Stick to dark colored mascaras such as navy blue or plum for they look more natural.

Apply two coats of mascara, sweeping the wand from roots to ends. Wiggle the wand a little as you move upwards to detach the lashes and make them stand out.

For a festive evening look, replace the ivory powder shadow with a pale but shimmering metallic gold shadow. A silvery white can also be used, but keep it very sheer or it will look pasty. Use a glittery gunmetal gray for the dark shadow. For really dramatic evening eyes, extend the shadow a little further than the outer brow edge in a small upsweep. Pair the upsweep with long and dark false eyelashes. This cats’ eyes look is extremely striking for a night on the town, but would be overkill for most daytime events.
